Through their Scholarships, these recipients will be given the exciting opportunity to live and work overseas in a country of their choice for up to two years.
Two Bursaries were also awarded to outstanding vocational education and training educators. The Bursaries will enable them to travel overseas and undertake professional development opportunities. The recipients of these Awards were:
- Mr Carl Balke, Lead Vocational Teacher for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech
- Ms Judy Hoskins, Lead teacher for Indigenous Primary Health Care, formally of TAFE Queensland North
Queensland Overseas Foundation Chair, Mr Geoff Favell said the Awards would benefit Queensland industries in the long term.
“The Queensland Overseas Foundation Awards enable exceptional Queensland vocational education and training personnel to travel overseas and test their abilities against the best in the world.”
“Past recipients have returned to very senior positions in Queensland companies or started their own successful businesses.”
These Awards are unique in Queensland and they are invaluable to the recipients but also to the communities and education settings they return to.”
